The heat is carried to the surface by fluid circulation through magma conduits, hot springs, drilled water wells or combination of all these. The wells today go deep to more than 3 km (1.9 mi), but having the oil technology for drilling we can exceed that number to more that 10 km (6.2 mi) deep. We can cultivate this energy almost everywhere on this planet.
